What Are The Production Requirements Of Graphite Mold?

Generally speaking, when the cutting depth of the graphite mold is less than 0.2mm, there is little fracture and a better surface quality of the side wall will be obtained. The dust generated during the CNC machining of graphite electrodes is relatively large, which may invade the screw and spindle of the machine tool. This requires graphite processing machine tools to have corresponding devices for handling graphite dust, and the sealing of the machine tool should also be good.
In recent years, with the introduction of precision graphite molds and high-efficiency molds (the mold cycle is getting shorter and shorter), people's requirements for mold making are getting higher and higher. Due to the various conditions of the copper electrode itself, it has been increasingly unable to meet the development requirements of the mold industry. As an electrode material for EDM, graphite has been widely used in the graphite mold industry due to its advantages such as good machinability, light weight, fast forming, extremely small expansion rate, low loss, and easy trimming. Replacement of copper electrodes is inevitable.
Industrial graphite is hard and brittle, which can cause severe wear to tools during CNC machining. In general, carbide or diamond-coated tools are recommended. In the rough machining of graphite, the tool can directly cut the workpiece up and down, while in the finish machining, in order to avoid the occurrence of collapse and edge chipping, light tools are often used for rapid machining.
