Can You Use Graphite In Bearings

As we all know, graphite has good self-lubricating properties compared to other materials, which can reduce friction and wear between moving parts without external lubrication, making graphite bearings an ideal choice for applications where frequent maintenance or lubrication is impractical or impossible.

Graphite bearings are made from hard and wear-resistant graphite materials, which can withstand heavy loads and harsh operating conditions. Compared with other materials, graphite bearings can be used in high-temperature applications and will not deform or fail due to thermal expansion.

Despite these challenges, graphite bearings are becoming an increasingly common choice in certain applications. For example, in the aerospace industry, graphite bearings are used in engine components and landing gear assemblies due to their high temperature resistance and self-lubricating properties. Similarly, in the automotive industry, graphite bearings are used in hybrid powertrain applications to reduce friction and improve efficiency.
